Help Peggy Foy Recover After a Devastating Accident

A Life-Changing Accident
On June 14th, beloved Seattle jewelry artist and instructor Peggy Foy was struck by a car while riding a scooter downtown. The driver turned across the bike lane, cutting Peggy off and causing a collision that shattered her leg.

Peggy was not at fault. The accident crushed her tibia, requiring two surgeries, two hospital stays, and the insertion of pins and plates to reconstruct the bone. She now faces at least a year of rehabilitation and the possibility of another surgery down the line.

A Creative Force and Mentor
Peggy has dedicated over 25 years to her craft and community. Known for her intricate filigree work and signature designs, she teaches metalsmithing at Pratt Fine Arts Center, North Seattle College, and through independent workshops, mentoring countless aspiring jewelers. Her studio at ’57 Biscayne Artist Studios in Pioneer Square has been her creative home for the last 14 years.

She’s a former President of the Seattle Metals Guild, a generous mentor, and a pillar of the regional arts scene—always giving back through teaching, advocacy, and community service.

The Impact: Time and Income Lost, Health and Finances in Limbo
This unexpected medical crisis struck at the worst possible time—just as festival season began, when Peggy earns most of her yearly income through craft fairs. She had to cancel all summer engagements and classes, losing vital income as a self-employed artist.

Though she’s just now returning to her studio, her mobility is limited, and she cannot drive or stand for long periods. She cannot put any weight on her leg until at least September and remains unable to work or support herself financially. She can sell some jewelry online, but website sales cannot make up for lost teaching and event revenue.

Adding to the hardship: insurance coverage is still uncertain. Peggy is navigating a slow and complex system that may not fully cover her medical bills or lost wages.

Peggy’s creative livelihood has also been deeply affected. Creating jewelry is not just her profession—it’s a passion that she has poured her heart into for decades. Being forced to pause her work, even temporarily, has been profoundly difficult, and watching the impact on the business she has worked so hard to build has been especially hard on her mental health.

Our Ideal Goal: $25,000
We’re asking our community to rally around Peggy and help her recover. The funds will provide critical financial relief and help her:

✅ Cover rent, food, and utilities
✅ Offset lost wages from canceled events
✅ Pay for ongoing therapy and medical costs
✅ Focus on healing instead of survival

Every Dollar Helps
Peggy has spent decades lifting up others through her artistry, generosity, and teaching. Now, she needs her support system to lift her up in return.

No donation is too small. Every contribution, every share, and every word of encouragement will help her take the next step toward recovery and return to the work she loves.

If you’ve ever been moved by Peggy’s work, learned from her, or admired her resilience—please consider donating.

Let’s surround her with the care she’s so often given to others.
