Urgent Funds Needed to Stabilize Our Family
My name is Alex Taehyun Kwon, and I am urgently asking for support for my parents after a catastrophic industrial accident.
Just a week ago, on October 12th, I returned from Korea after celebrating my father’s 70th birthday—the second biggest milestone in our culture. The trip was beautiful and perfect. I was crying on the return flight out of sheer happiness, so grateful for our time together.
Then,,
That highest high was immediately followed by the lowest low. Our world absolutely shattered.
The very next day, October 13th, my father—a lifelong HVAC/Plumbing professional who spent 50 years working tirelessly—suffered a devastating accident. He was just two months away from retiring when a coworker slipped from a pipe and landed on him, breaking his neck (C3-C7 cervical spine).
The Loss of a Future
The impact caused a severe spinal cord injury, leaving him with paralysis (quadriplegia/paraplegia). He has undergone major fusion surgery and is in critical condition due to severe lung issues.
Fifty years of work, and what he earned was a broken neck. All his dreams are frozen, possibly forever. He was so excited to visit me in America, travel with us, and set up a little farm in my backyard. More than anything, he was looking forward to watching my future kids while we worked—something he is truly wonderful at. Now, that future is gone. I still scream inside, begging for that time back so he could simply walk.
The Hope and My Immediate Financial Need
Though the prognosis is terrifying, we hold onto a miracle: His right arm can still move. This indicates the damage is incomplete—a strong sign that intensive, aggressive rehabilitation is essential....
Father's Chance
Your donation is paying for my mother's survival, my father's chance to recover, and my presence through what will be many expensive flights. Our most urgent fiancial burden is securing 24-hour nursing care in the hospital, which costs approximately 4,000,000 Korean Won (apx $2700 USD) per month. While insurance covers som some of them, but there are significant out-of-pocket expenses that my parents simply cannot afford.
Every single dollar ensures I can focus on securing them the permanent support they need and deserve.
Thank you so much for your support, prayers, and for sharing our story.
We are eternally grateful.
Alex Taehyun Kwon
