Emergency surgery for Murphy

Donation protected
Many of you are not yet aware, but this past Saturday Murphy and myself were involved in a car accident that left injuries to both of us, but most severely to Murphy. It has been an incredibly difficult few days for us both but fortunately Murphy was stabalized and will survive his injuries.

During consultation with the Veterinary Specialist it was determined the best course of action was for Murphy was to undergo surgery which will result in the amputation of his right-rear leg  up to the hip.

This news was heartbreaking, and the decision to proceed was a difficult decision to make and it wasn't taken lightly, but I believe it is the best option for Murphy.  The initial emergency treatments, evaluations, medications, consultation and planned surgery alone have exceeded $7,000 and is already overwhelming.  It has been non-stop blood work, xrays, mri's, meds, antibiotics and so on since the accident.

The additional costs for Murphy's post-surgery follow-ups, medications, unforeseen treatments and rehabilitation will be immense and as such I am making the difficult decision to seek the help of others to burden Murphy's expenses. I also have not yet sought proper medical attention, other than an out-patient fix up, for my right hand and arm which were badly injured by the driver as he drove over them while extracting Murphy from beneath his vehicle.

Most of you know Murphy well and what a happy a pup he is and how much he means to not only to myself but to family, friends and hundreds of patrons he greets in the pub.  The staff at the Companion Care Vetinary clinic in Sanford did a wonderful job stabalizing Murphy and saving him initially. Today Murphy was admitted to the Affiliate Vetinary Specialists in Maitland where he will undergo surgery tomorrow afternoon and will continue to seek treatment on a badly injured but treatable front leg until he can return home on either Friday or Saturday of this week.

My decision to seek help to assist with the burden of Murphy's medical expenses is one of humility with a heavy heart. Murphy's best care is paramount to me. I can assure you that all costs will go towards his care and hopefully a return to a normal a life as possible in the difficult weeks that lay ahead.

I will continue to keep you all updated throughout the process to let you know how your kindness is helping and how Murphy is doing.

We hope to repay you all with a do-over of Murphy's birthday in a month or so's time, as this horrible event happened on Murphy's 7th birthday Saturday.

I am happy to answer any and all questions, just know that your time, support and kindness is all deeply appreciated to the bottom of my heart.

Thank you all so much.

Robbie.
