Donate to Minkah's Fight Against Lymphoma

Beth's beautiful, joyful dog Minkah was just recently diagnosed with canine Lymphoma. Minkah is young enough that her lifespan can be extended far beyond the current prognosis of two-three months if she is able to receive regular chemotherapy and/or a bone marrow transplant. These costly treatments are only barely covered by Beth's pet insurance, if at all. Please consider supporting Beth and her family with their effort to extend the life of their beautiful companion and sweet spirit, Minkah.

Beth's story below explains the challenges she is facing with Minkah's care. Canine Lymphoma ravages through the body quickly if it is not treated swiftly and aggressively. Thank you in advance for any level of support you are able to donate to Minkah and their family❤️:

In December 2024, right before Christmas, my dog faced an unimaginable health crisis. Minkah is a 3 ½ year old Scottish Terrier that was examined for lumps in her jaw area where the examination concluded with a strong inclination that it was Lymphoma. With my Vet clinic about to close for the holidays with only an on-call Vet available, finding an Oncologist was very difficult. Her case was transferred to the local VCA Animal Hospital in San Diego and other lymph nodes started to show swelling. The immediate emotional and financial hit to our family has been devastating for the emergency tests, xrays, IV, and other treatments to both confirm the diagnosis, as well as stabilize her condition as much as possible. She stayed at the hospital to be monitored until an Oncologist could be found. The Oncologist sent her specimens to a lab as well as to Colorado State University that does canine cancer research, which I am hoping is a sign that due to her young age, they can provide information on her treatment that may be new in their research. Minkah received L-Asparaginase oral chemo, a one-time treatment, and came home the evening of Christmas. The Lymphoma diagnosis was confirmed in early January and she is being treated with Prednisone until her next Oncology visit to get blood and liver testing to determine how she would respond to any treatments available, which are the CHOP chemotherapy or bone marrow transplant.

As of today, the initial tests and treatments by her veterinarian and the VCA Animal Special Group have cost $7,720.25, with an estimate of $10,000 for 4 weeks of CHOP chemotherapy. The other option is a bone marrow transplant which would cost $20,000. The bone marrow transplant is the only option with a chance for a cure for canine Lymphoma.

I have pet insurance through MetLife, which has not yet confirmed they will pay and how much, but it is capped at $5,000 for the coverage from November 2024 – November 2025. Without Chemo or bone marrow treatment, my dog will not live long enough for the pet insurance to cover any additional charges.

For all of you reading this message, please consider supporting Minkah in any way you can to not only prolong her young life, but also her quality of life.
