Hey ya'll, Mettle here. As many of you know my husband Radasus and I are artists by trade, and do this for a living.
This also means we get taxed out the ass because America hates independent artists.
Earlier this year we filed an extension on our 2024 taxes because at the time we didn't have enough to pay off what they were claiming we owed, which was around $10K total. We instead payed about $3500 because that's what we could afford without bankrupting ourselves at the time, and opted to try and really save our money, throwing 50% of every dollar we made into savings.
Problem was, soon after that our roommate lost his job, among other consistent small emergencies, which left us constantly having to pull from that savings fund every single month to cover basic living costs, meaning the vast majority of what we saved well, didn't get saved.
The deadline for our extension is coming up, and as much as I hate asking ya'll, I don't feel we have many other options right now.
I know things are already tight and difficult for everyone right now. Ultimately my hope is to try and lessen the amount owed so we can feel at least feel like we're able to keep ourselves above water in the coming years so we can keep making art for ya'll.
Thanks so much for any help provided <3
TL:DR: Taxes too high plz help a small artist
