Help Pay for Excision Surgery for Endometriosis
Donation protected
Hi my name is Melissa Stoner and never in a million years would I have thought I would be in the position to create a gofundme for a surgery. I'll be using the hashing #WontMissyMyEndo
I have Stage IV Endometriosis. I have been trying to get gap coverage through my insurance to cover excision surgery to remove endometriosis. I am 38 years old and have been dealing with the pain from endometriosis since I started my cycle at 11 years old. My insurance will not cover the cost of my surgery with Dr. Tamer Seckin because of the special way he does the surgery my insurance says it is experiemental and will not cover it. Due to that I am required to pay for my surgery up front. Not only is this surgery expensive it also requires me to travel to New York City which is another cost on top of the already expensive surgery.
For those of you who do not know me I am a retail manager of two bridal salons in Dallas. I have had 3 previous laparoscopic surgeries to remove endometriosis. My first surgery was in November of 2011 when I was first diagnosed at the age of 28. The second was in December of 2016 at age 33 and the most recent was in April of 2019 at the age of 36. I have not yet been able to have children due to this horrific disease wrecking havoc on my body. I have what they call kissing ovaries - which is where your ovaries are touching each other and mine happen to be atached to the back of my uterus. My right fallopian tube is blocked. I have chocolate cysts on both ovaries. I also have what they call frozen pelvis - which is where your entire pelvic region is adhered together. I also suffer from bowel disease - endometriosis is wrapped around my bowels. My cycles are excruciatingly painful and I lose a massive amount of blood. This last cycle was so bad that I almost passed out. I went through four 10-hour pads in the course of 8 hours. I bled through my clothes twice in one day. (Sorry to be so descriptive - I feel at this point it is necessary for other to understand the gravity of my situation.)
Please understand I am not one to do this but I am desperate for relief. It will cost me between $3,000 and $5,000 for the hotel alone. I also have to pay $30,000 for the surgery up front before I can even get into the operating room. I know it is a lot to ask but I am hoping someone somewhere will find it in there hearts to help me with this life changing surgery. I would not ask if I was able to get this taken care of myself. I would have to save for years to come up with this kind of money and that is just not possible at this point. I need immediate relief. I am happy to answer anyones questions about endometriosis if they need more information. If you have made it this far, I am truly grateful for your time and hope that if you cannot help maybe someone you know can.
