Help Me Fight For My Son: His Future Is On The Line

Here is what happened:

On October 1st my son Casey (23 years old and a NRHS Graduate) was arrested in Pensacola, Florida where he was sent by his employer to work. The employer put Casey up in a motel providing the motel with a credit card number to pay for the room. After a long day on the job doing physical work he returned to the motel hoping to take a warm shower and get some rest. Unfortunately, that was not what happened.

When Casey opened the door he saw that all his belongings were gone, including his computer. Casey was exhausted and upset, and went to the office to ask about his property concerned he was robbed. The woman at the desk said that Casey’s belongings were taken because the bill had not been paid. She did not want to hear about the credit card on file and an argument followed.

The employee picked up the phone to call the police despite Casey’s pleas. The police arrived shortly after and he was arrested, processed, and spent two nights in Jail until I paid his bond for release. He is now facing both felony and misdemeanor charges that are grossly disproportionate to his alleged crime.  His crime? Essentially he was upset that his property was taken as ransom for payment that had already been provided to the motel.  Who is given a hotel key without a credit card?  This is clearly an abuse of the justice system.

Casey’s life and future are literally on the line. My son is a kind young man whose passion is music and has dreams of becoming a physical therapist. This injustice has the potential to kill those dreams.

Here is how you can help:

Casey's arraignment is Friday, October 23rd. A private attorney in Pensacola was recommended to us, and his initial retainer is $3000.  We are asking for help to raise $8,000 to cover the additional legal expenses through the trial.  Any left over funds will be donated to help others.

Casey and I appreciate any contribution you can make to help give him the best chance at winning this case.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart. As a parent it is heartbreaking to see your child go through something like this and to see him in such pain.

With thanks,
