Help Matt beat AML Leukemia
Donation protected
I am Alex Sison and I have decided to start this fundraiser on behalf of my childhood friend, Matt Wagwag, who is currently at the Loma Linda Medical Center for recently being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)*. He and his family desperately need your assistance to provide enough money for the medical expenses and their basic life essentials. They are already contemplating upon the idea of selling their car and Matt’s childhood home of about 11 years.
Two weeks ago, on the fourth of July, his family planned a trip to Bishop for a family camp out. They drove for four hours straight to get to the campsite. When they arrived, however, they noticed that Matt’s eye was beginning to swell. They rushed him to the nearest urgent care (Northern Inyo Hospital) in Bishop. After testing, they told him he had a large excess amount of immature white blood cells (the blood cells of the immune system). This had meant either two things: his body was being overprotected or he has the slight chance of having leukemia. The doctor’s recommendation was to transport them to the Loma Linda Hospital using air support as his case was deemed urgent. They had no choice. When they arrived, he was tested once again to be given the final diagnosis.

The news was shocking to the family. They had no idea what to do. With only one parent getting average pay, there was no way to pay both the medical bill and air support. I am asking for your support to help them reach their current goal of $10,000. The amount may increase in the future depending on the unknown circumstances. He has luckily responded well to chemotherapy and is very slowly gaining his strength back.
Matt is only 13 but is unable to go to school because of his condition. If he does not get well, I am afraid he will not be able to get the education he needs this coming school year and achieve his dreams. He strives to become part of the medical field to help others in need just like him. He loves basketball, boxing, and fishing. Fishing with his family was actually his sole reason for going on the trip. He has been going fishing with his father for years, locations ranging from the pier, boat, and lake.
“I want to
Meet Michael Jordan or Manny Pacquiao
Become a part of the medical field
And to finally go fishing again.”
- Matt Wagwag
I would like to take the time to specially thank those below:
Northern Inyo Hospital
Loma Linda Medical Center
Eastern Sierra Regional Airport
And to all who have given him support thus far. Your efforts are greatly appreciated in helping Matt and his family during these stressing times. Please be generous enough to donate. All money earned will be used to pay for all of Matt’s needs. Even as little as $1 can help!
Thank you,
Alex Sison
