My name is Angelica and along with my mother, Elsie Marie, we are putting together this fundraiser for a beautiful and kind soul - my aunt, Mary Anne. She has always been a kind and genuine person with a good heart.
Last fall on November 2, 2020, we learned the unfortunate news of her breast cancer diagnosis. It came as a shock to us all and hits so close to home. She had to quit her job and swiftly start an aggressive treatment regimen per doctor’s orders, including chemotherapy, self injections, and now she is scheduled for a lumpectomy surgery on May 24, 2021, with radiation treatments to follow. She just completed her 6th round of chemotherapy and has to continue doing regular intravenous targeted therapy, which has been grueling on her body.
Needless to say she is anxious, frightened, and overwhelmed with it all; she is a spiritual and humble woman and just longs to be well again and prays daily for healing and strength to go on. With frequent family talks, she is determined to remain hopeful, thankful, and focused on healing and living well, taking one day at a time.
The side effects of the treatment so far have been difficult for her, landing her in the ER a couple times. Most days she just feels incredibly nauseous and fatigued, proving difficult to do simple daily activities.
The pandemic has made it really hard and frustrating to show support physically, but perhaps we can all come together and support her from afar to show her she has a wealth of people surrounding her who love and care for her, and believe in her strength to hang in there to continue with treatment and take all the steps necessary toward healing.
