Hi! My name is Madi Cook, and I’m 22!
Throughout the events I’m about to tell you, I truly met God for the first time, and I’m so grateful to know him the way I do now, even through my hardships and adversity!
In late September of 2022, life as I knew it fell apart. Out of nowhere, I started to have panic attacks again, I started to forget the things I did everyday for work, and I had really intense brain fog. My cognitive ability & my mental health continued to decline to the point where I couldn't hardly speak, if I could even speak at all. I could no longer drive, or feed & dress myself on my own. I had to quit the job I had at the time. Me and my family went to an endless amount of doctors, but most of them came up short. I then started to get more physical symptoms and pain that made me even more dysfunctional and just in complete agony.
Eventually I found better care and found out that I have Chronic Lyme Disease, 4 tick borne illnesses, and a joint-hypermobility disorder, amongst several other things. I’m much more functional now by the grace of God, but I still struggle with symptoms everyday, and flare-ups often. The medical team I’ve been seeing has been getting me somewhere in progress and some relief.
As of right now, I’m currently in a transition period in my life where my health has gone berserk again (which can just happen when you’ve been dealing with chronic illness; progress isn’t always linear) and it has been difficult to make ends meet in general and to afford my treatments. Affording my team of providers is expensive as most of it is out of pocket. Most of the providers we’ve tried in network have caused me more harm than good for not knowing how to help me, so I’m trying to stick to the route that’s been the most sustainable for my body’s recovery.
These diseases make it difficult for me to function consistently, cause pain and constant inflammation, high risk of joint-dislocations even with low activity, heavily affect mental wellness, I get intense brain fog often, intense executive dysfunction, and chronic fatigue symptoms, etc. If you feel led in your heart to help by giving, or even just praying for me, it’s much appreciated.
Thank you very much, and God bless!
