Help Minnea & Jonathan - Rising from the Ashes

On April 3rd, a devastating 6-alarm fire ripped through an apartment building in Sunset Park. Many people lost their homes, including my two close friends, Minnea and Jonathan.
Their apartment was their first home as non-renters, bought just over two years ago, and it was thoroughly destroyed by this fire. They were beyond lucky that their dog, Murray, survived (see story here: https://nypost.com/2019/04/04/couple-reunited-with-dog-feared-lost-to-massive-brooklyn-blaze/). Many pets did not make it.
The road ahead is long. Their clothes, computers, furniture, photos and art, personal and business records -- everything that wasn’t in their bags when they went to work that morning -- all lost. They can't even start salvaging things. For safety reasons, residents do not have free access to the building, and it will probably be months or more until they have this. Whatever remains of their possessions sits in a firehose-drenched, sooty apartment with no A/C.
Adding to the pressure, insurance will cover only about two months rent, while they continue to pay the mortgage on an apartment they aren't allowed to enter. They have just now found a temporary apartment, but wardrobes and laptops need to be replaced, furniture and kitchenware is needed, insurance and mortgage paperwork must be dealt with, and on and on…. It is expected to be a year+ until they can start rebuilding their apartment unit, maybe longer. My friends are educated and mobile and feel luckier than many of their neighbors, some of whom don't speak the language or have never moved far (one adult was even born inside the building!). Because of that, Minnea and Jonathan have focused their efforts on raising money for others.
But they too are struggling. Will you join me in digging deep to help out? My dear friends would never ask for anything themselves, but they have a long road ahead of them. Anything we can send their way would be appreciated.
