Life has been getting a little bit more challenging and stressful the last few days. Lyla and Jenna are still in the hospital while Mike had to leave for a bit as he has picked up a cold and any type of infection or virus is very dangerous to Lyla now. He is staying in the YANA apartment, but really wants to be with his family. Jenna is doing all she can ( and is doing an amazing job), but it is difficult on her own. Hi Everyone,

My name is Kim and I am Lyla's great auntie.

Life changed for the worse recently for my niece Jenna and her husband Mike.

Their 3 year old daughter Lyla was diagnosed with B-cell ALL acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

They had to leave their home in Courtenay to go to Childrens hospital in Vancouver so Lyla could receive the best treatment.

Lyla is having surgery today to get an access port for chemotherapy and they will be starting chemo this weekend.

All of this is so scary, and the road ahead will be a long one.

Lyla doesn't understand what is going on and she just wants to go home. Mommy and Daddy are doing their best to comfort her.

They anticipate being in Vancouver for 6-9 months and then hopefully they can go home to finish her treament. The doctors have advised them that at this point they are looking at a 2 year treatment plan.

Not sure what the future holds, but neither of them are able to work as they want to stay close to their daughter.

I have started this go fund me to try to lessen the financial worry for them, so they can focus on Lyla.

3 year olds should not be fighting cancer...they should be going to the beach or park...playing in the sunshine and having new adventures with Mommy and Daddy.
