Help Loretta find her peace

Donation protected
Loretta Rose has finally found her peace. She fought hard and long. We couldn’t be more proud of her for everything she is. We will miss you beyond forever our sweet darling baby girl.

Thank you all for everything. There are no words.

“No one can prepare a family for the loss of a vibrant brave sparkly 3 year old. It’s an impossible task.

But the waiting is something we didn’t expect. It has been over a month since Loretta lost her ability to walk or communicate. She is on comfort medications that help her rest almost continuously blocking the pain from her tumors.

Listening to her breathe is the only part of her we get. Her quiet breath is all that’s left of the energetic baby girl who only a few short weeks ago giggled as she chased waves.

No one prepared us for the waiting.

Even now hospice doesn’t know if she has days, or weeks.

Please continue to send peace and love her way.

Thank you for thinking of our darling Loretta ♥️”

At home Loretta has continued to deteriorate over the past two weeks. Her parents Abe and Sarah have been by her side every moment as she finds her way.
Her sister, Thea has brought more joy into Etta’s short life than anyone could ever imagine. She has been by her sisters side as she’s fought.

We want to thank each and every one of you for being with us as Etta has fought. She has been braver and stronger and more resilient than any child should ever have to be.

We feel enormously blessed to have gotten to know her these past three years. She is truly a gift to the world.

We will try to keep you updated with any changes.

As always thank you for loving our girl so hard ♥️

All our love; The Rifkin Family

Loretta or Etta Rose Rifkin is a bright, bubbly, kind two and a half year old. She loves animals, especially pigs. Her older sister is her best friend and role model.

Her parents noticed slight unsteadiness in her gate mid-late May while on a family camping trip. She began to complain of headaches the following days and was brought in to have her checked out. What appeared to be a concussion turned out to be a massive and very rare brain tumor.

The family and everyone who knows her is devastated to have received this news.

She has a long road ahead of her to fight for her life.

Please consider assisting the family through their journey if you are able.
Thoughts and prayers, well wishes and keeping the Rifkins in your hearts all make a difference.

Etta underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor pressing on her brain early June.
The tumor was found to have metastasized to her spine. The oncology team began treatment of the cancer with aggressive chemo therapy.

Loretta will have to undergo multiple cycles of chemo in the coming months to hopefully kill the remaining tumor.

She finished her first round of chemo the third week of July 2024.
Etta was readmitted following a week long stay in hospital due to a blood infection.
She has been unable to eat since before her first chemo due to intense nausea, mouth and GI sores and pain. She is now being fed through a NG tube.

Thank you for standing with Loretta and her family.

Please continue to share her story and caringbridge as well as keep the Rifkin’s in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!

On 6/1/24 my amazing friend Sarah and her family recieved the scariest news you can recieve as parents. Their fierce, kind and charismatic 2 1/2 year old, Loretta Rose, Etta for short, has a mass in her brain. Over the last week Sarah and Abe, along with their daughter Theadora have been with Etta to find answers. Following an MRI on 6/3/24 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor on which they will operate on 6/10. The amazing staff at Children's Hospital Anschutz Medical Center in Aurora have been helping them along the way and will continue to support Loretta along her journey.

Already, this has taken both parents out of work to be with their daughters as a family while they keep Etta comfortable and care for her. Any support that can be given is so greatly appreciated, thoughts and prayers would mean the world as they navigate the unimaginable.

There is a CaringBridge site which I linked below to keep you updated on our brave Loretta as she heals.

Additionally, If you’d like to do something but you’re not sure what, we have been doing Lego sets in the hospital and it’s really lifting her spirits.
Anything to cheer her up moment to moment is a true gift ♥️
