Dear friends, family, and community,
If you know our family, you know our pride and joy: Leon. He is our silly, hard-working, 4-year-old miracle boy.
Leon’s journey began four years ago when he was born prematurely at just 29 weeks, weighing a tiny 1 lb 9.2 oz. After 110 days in the NICU, he came home with severe medical complexities, including severe cerebral palsy, microcephaly, a feeding tube, seizures, cortical visual impairment (CVI), skeletal dysplasia, and hearing loss.
Against so many odds, Leon is a joyful boy who loves Bluey, music, and working hard at his therapies. Just last year, he started playing with toys for the very first time, and he recently mastered rolling from his belly to his back! While he cannot yet sit independently, crawl, walk, or talk, he never stops trying. All glory goes to God and his incredible therapists for this amazing progress.
The Challenge We Are Facing:
As Leon grows, his medical and physical needs are changing. He is getting much heavier, and carrying him up the stairs or lifting him safely has become a major challenge—made harder by my own recent diagnosis of moderate/severe knee arthritis. Furthermore, because Leon struggles with frequent daily vomiting due to his feeding tube, safe and accessible bathing is a desperate, multiple-times-a-day necessity.
We recently moved his bedroom from the second floor down to our former first-floor office, but the space is incredibly limited. There is no closet for his extensive medical storage, no room for his growing equipment, and—most critically—no bathroom on the first floor.
Our Goal & How You Can Help:
We are launching this fundraiser to complete essential home modifications to give Leon a safe, accessible environment. Our goal is to begin these projects immediately, with the hope of having everything fully completed as soon as possible.
Your generous donations will go directly toward:
-A First-Floor Addition: Expanding his current bedroom into a medical storage closet and building an attached, wheelchair-accessible bathroom for safe bathing.
-Outdoor Accessibility: Adding a concrete sidewalk around our backyard so Leon can safely access and enjoy being outside.
Our Promise to Pay It Forward:
God has blessed our family beyond imagination through Leon. Because we believe so deeply in community, if this fundraiser should miraculously exceed our goal, every single extra penny will be passed on to other medically complex families who are navigating these same steep structural hurdles.
If you feel led to donate, we cannot possibly tell you how much it would mean to our family. If you aren't able to give financially, simply hitting the "Share" button to spread Leon’s story is an incredible gift to us.
Thank you for your endless love, prayers, and support!
With heartfelt gratitude,
Challis & Family
