Help Kiralee's Independence

My name is Kiralee, I am 28 years old and I was born with dwarfism.

I'm starting this go fund me page hoping to raise money to put towards a more suitable car for my needs. I have been lucky to receive a custom wheelchair which allows me to leave my home to do meaningful activities.

However, I cannot independently transfer the wheelchair into the car and my car is too small to fit my wheelchair. I'm reliant on other people to put my wheelchair in and out of my current car. I am wanting to use any funding raised to go towards upgrading my car to a more suitable car for my wheelchair.

BACKGROUND:

There are approximately 400 types of dwarfism.

My type is Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia (SED). With my condition, the doctors have labelled my skeletal system and joints as catastrophic. My main issues are; severe scoliosis and malformed hips and ankles. These symptoms cause significant pain which affects my ability to engage in day to day tasks.

The worst part? My condition is degenerative and will continue to deteriorate as I get older. Besides standing 4ft tall, my dwarfism causes daily chronic pain. Due to my chronic pain, I cannot work full time so my only income is the disability pension.

It has been difficult for me to reach out and ask for help. However, having a more suitable car would reduce the disability related barriers I currently face and would allow me to leave my home and be able to socialise in the community for longer periods of time in my wheelchair.
