I was diagnosed in 2019 with CTCL cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. At that time, I had been searching for a diagnosis for more than 10 years, it is a story all on its own; getting turned away from dermatologist to dermatologist, to finally come to an amazing Allergy Specialist that will diagnose me correctly. Since I was 14 years old, I had small rashes that would come and go away with steroids… At 23 they stopped going away and only grew larger. Since my diagnosis, the doctors in the USA have tried numerous attempts to heal me. I have only gotten 10 times worse. I am now 34, but now, I am FINALLY winning my battle! But how? I'll tell you below. I need support to keep up this battle in my body but day by day I grow closer to 100% remission, now that I have found a treatment that works on my rare cancer, I need to keep fighting and NEVER give up. Here is a summary of my treatment journey story... SO FAR!
Chemo attempt #1: Bexarotene (Targretin) 6 months - Chemo attempt #2: Romidepsin (Istodax) 14 months! ---now I have a Primary, Oncologist, dermatologist, endocrinologist, cardiologist, & Orthopedic doctor. The only reason I have that many doctors is because the chemo has so many negative side effects that it affected my thyroids, my bones, and my heart. Nov 2021, I told my doctor I did not want to continue my chemo anymore. She insisted I keep getting treatment, which she finally stopped one month later in Dec 2021. During that last month of treatment, a small scab started growing. This small scab turned into the circular size of a grapefruit by Dec, and to the circle size of a basketball by Feb 2022. By this time, I had Necrotic Dead tissue on these tumors, they were very very very bad. My face had also developed a raised red plague. On the last day of the chemo treatment in Nov, the plaque shriveled up worse than ever, the skin was flaking away on my face, and it spread up my right cheek and to the left side of my forehead.
For the wound on my back, my PCP sent me to a wound clinic. My Oncologist didn't see me and kept telling me I need MD Anderson and that it was my only choice. She thought I was there, I was dying though, in wound management. The WM Doc I was seeing did absolutely nothing but clean every week. Then, charged $$ extra money separately from my insurance to get paid twice. In March 2022, I had another infection on my inner left thigh that has grown into four deep open tumors and shows no sign of healing, let's also add 2 more tumors on my head. My skin is flaking away in large pieces, I don’t know what to do anymore. Infection was winning against the antibiotics the wound care was prescribing. I was dying. At least four times a day I’m trying to moisten my skin and treat giant infections. These types of tumors debilitated me from my everyday life. The only suggestion my doctors have for me is to do chemo after chemo with the hope it could change, with no solid plan with reassurance they know what they're doing. At that time is when I created this account, it saved my life, we raised enough to go to The Oasis of Hope Hospital, which saved my life.
TODAY - After following the treatment protocol from my Oncologist at The Oasis of Hope Hospital, I am doing the BEST I've been since being diagnosed. I did have to come back to do chemo, but he has a plan, and assured me is going to work. We are bringing out the big guns on this. I no longer have open infection tumors, but cancer lives in me still and my Oncologist here does not know how to get me into Remission. So, teaming up with Oasis, we all are on the same team. I am going through Immunotherapy right now in 2023 from Texas Oncology, and I go back to The Oasis of Hope Hospital every 3 months for a specific vitamin therapy that my cancer REACTS to, my cancer dies! They believe I'm going to reach remission to 100%.
The cancer was covering about 90% of my skin, after my Treatment Plan from Oasis, it's only about 10%. Please email me at [email redacted] for more details on my story! Ask me anything.
