Help Joel receive a specialized wheelchair

We are a group of people who met on the soccer fields of Orlando. A while ago, on these fields, we met Joel and his family. Joel is Colombian and is 12 years old, we always see him on the soccer fields sitting in his wheelchair cheering on all the teams, because he has many adult friends who play on different teams, which is his favorite sport. When the field is unoccupied, his dad puts his knee pads on him and carries him to the soccer goal, where crawling, he plays as a goalkeeper with other children for a while. Then he goes back to his wheelchair to watch the others play. Joel was born with spastic cerebral palsy, and he will always depend on someone to be able to stand and walk. Joel spends 60% of his time sitting in a wheelchair and 40% lying down or crawling in the living room of his house.

Joel studies at Meadow Woods Middle School, where he receives leg therapy once a month; a few weeks ago his therapist brought him a special chair where Joel could almost stand up and use his legs to walk. This is one of Joel's happiest days, because it is the only time that he can walk.

We are raising this money because we know that his parents, due to their financial situation, cannot buy him the chair that Joel needs to strengthen his legs and get around.

Joel and his family will really appreciate it

Somos un grupo de personas que nos conocimos en las canchas de fútbol de Orlando. Hace algun tiempo en estas canchas conocimos a Joel y su familia. Joel es colombiano y tiene 12 anos, siempre lo vemos en las canchas de futbol sentado en su silla de ruedas alentando a todos los equipos, porque tiene muchos amigos adultos que juegan en diferentes equipos de futbol, el cual es su deporte favorito. Cuando la cancha esta desocupada, su papà le pone sus rodilleras y lo carga hasta el arco de futbol, donde gateando, juega de arquero con otros ninos por un rato. Luego de eso regresa a su silla de ruedas a ver jugar a los demas. Joel nació con paralisis cerebral espástica, y siempre va depender de alguien para poder pararse y caminar. Joel pasa el 60% de su tiempo sentado en una silla de ruedas y el 40% acostado o gateando en la sala de su casa.

Joel estudia en Meadow Woods Middle School, donde recibe terapia para sus piernas una vez al mes; hace algunas semanas su terapista le trajo una silla especial donde Joel puede sostenerse casi parado y usar sus piernas para caminar. Este es uno de los dias mas felices para Joel porque en esos días el puede caminar.

Estamos recaudando este dinero porque sabemos que sus padres por la situacion economica que tienen, no pueden comprarle la silla que Joel necesita para fortalecer sus piernas y movilizarse.
