Hello, My name is Jess. I am a disabled trans woman. I spend most of my day running a mental health & LGBTQIA+ positive community online. Focusing on helping people overcome their trauma.

 

I suffer with brain damage, Autism, ADHD, C-PTSD, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Narcolepsy, And most relevant, Severe Gender Dysphoria. I have been denied medical care for my transition in excess of 6 years, this has been utterly crippling to my mental health. causing me substantial distress, depression, and anxiety.

 

I have spent a large portion of my life abused, in both foster care and supportive adult housing. This physical, emotional, sexual, financial, and institutional abuse left me suicidal for much of my life. A difficult burden which resulted in multiple suicide attempts, and being found dead and resuscitated twice causing brain damage. Through working on myself and addressing my mental health, over the last 5 years, I've realized how strongly I feel that no one should go through such egregious suffering...  My past traumas now being a driving force for me, I dedicate much of my time to helping other people find community and peace in the face of, and often in spite of the traumas they face.

 

Unfortunately, as much as I try to help other people, being severely disabled does not leave me much in the way of room to help myself. My Gender Dysphoria is severe, I have been doing vocal training to try and change my voice for almost 7 years with little success. Even the thought of hearing my own voice makes me nauseous. Seeing my own face often leaves me bordering on tears. I cannot afford to pay for the surgeries which I was repeatedly denied. And with my small disability pension, no amount of savings will change that.

 

I do not like to ask for help, I far prefer helping others. Making this go Go Fund Me was difficult decision. but the reality is if this Go-Fund-Me doesn't succeed, I will be unable to afford to finish my transition at any point in my life. This GoFundMe will be used to pay for Vocal and Facial Feminization Surgery.
