Help Iva's Recovery
Hi, my name is Jim and I am Iva's brother. My family and I are reaching out to everyone who is able to help Iva with her medical expenses, insurance premiums, and prescription costs. Iva is has been diagnosed with hemiplegic migraines (which mimic a stroke), seizures with unknown etiology, and neurological disorders. On August 5th, 2021 she suffered her third hemiplegic migraine (the worst one yet) and was hospitalized for the third time since January of 2020. On that day she was feeling fine, and out of nowhere she developed a headache, complained of not feeling "right," lost consciousness, stopped breathing, and starting seizing. She coded in the emergency room and the prognosis was not good. Thankfully, Iva is a fighter! The stroke team came to check on her when she was in the ICU and expressed how much she scared them in the ER and what an impression she made on them all. The staff came to say goodbye to her before she was discharged and everyone remembered her from the emergency room, CT, and MRI, and wanted to make sure she knew everyone was thinking of her. We are all so thankful she is still with us today. She spent 11 days in the hospital. As a result, she now suffers a type of paralysis that affects the right side of her body, she has difficulty swallowing and eating, she struggles with cognitive deficits, memory and recall issues, and has more severe & frequent migraines that last for several days at a time (just to name a few of her medical issues). Iva has been released from the hospital, but she requires 24/7 care and supervision, nursing care, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, etc. Iva has been unable to work as a result of her medical condition(s) since January of 2020. She requires long-term medical rehabilitation care to make as full of a recovery as possible. As much as it pains us to ask for help, we can not provide the level of care Iva so desperately needs at this time. Any donation possible is more appreciated than you will ever know. Her medical team is working together trying to help Iva, but she has a very long road ahead and we have no definitive answers. It's Iva's nature to help others and she would do anything to help her family, friends, coworkers, patients, a stranger in need, anyone at any time. She has spent her life putting others' needs before her own... Anyone who knows her knows how big her heart is and also knows she will not ask for help, even when she desperately needs it. Please donate what you can, share her story, post well wishes or kind words, visit her, include her in your prayers... Every little bit makes all the difference. Thank you so much.Photo: Iva on the left side of photo with one of her dear friends - doing what she loves and is praying to get back to!
