My name is Yaduttama das (Andrew Ingersoll), and my wife Yuvati Manjari devi dasi (Andrew Ingersoll) and I serve full-time in Mayapur. On November — one month ago — our twin boys Jiva and Rupa were born three months premature in Kolkata after sudden labor that could not be stopped.
Jiva’s Critical Condition
For nearly three weeks after birth, Jiva could not tolerate even the smallest milk feeds. After several failed attempts, doctors discovered a congenital blockage in his digestive tract and he required surgery to remove it.
Following the operation, he developed sepsis and pneumonia, which led to intubation and delayed his recovery even further.
Only three days ago were the doctors able to restart his milk feeds. To our relief, he is now stable on non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and has finally begun to tolerate milk and slowly gain strength.
But he remains very fragile.
Rupa’s Ongoing Struggles
Rupa has been more stable, but he still requires oxygen support and close monitoring due to frequent breathing dips. He is also not yet fully out of danger.
Doctors Are Hopeful — But We Need Help
By the grace of the Lord and our Spiritual Masters, the doctors believe that if everything continues well, both boys may be able to come home in about a month.
Guru Maharaja has given us his blessings to fundraise so our sons can continue receiving the best care possible.
Our Financial Reality
We have now reached the limits of every resource available to us.
Our modest savings and all help from family, Mayapur devotees, and well-wishers have already been used.
Because of Jiva’s surgery and the ICU care required for both boys, we have paid over $22,000 in the past month.
The hospital administration has informed us that the twins will likely need three more weeks in the NICU, costing an estimated $12,000 more.
We no longer have the means to continue on our own.
How You Can Help
If you are in a position to assist us — even in a small way — it would mean more than we can express.
Our Promise
We cannot offer much in return, but we can promise this with all sincerity:
When Jiva and Rupa are older, we will bring them to your home to do kirtan and offer their respects.
And if you or your children ever come to Mayapur, you will always have a place to stay with us, and we will take care of you as our own.
Thank you for reading and for any help you can offer.
Your grateful servants,
Yaduttama das & Yuvati Manjari devi dasi
