Help Us Increase the Quality of Life for Chloe

Hi I’m Julia, and I am a single mother of 3. Chloe is my youngest daughter with special needs. Click here for
Chloe to say hi. to you... Wait for it

To support Chloe's quality of life, I am asking for financial support to help cover the additional cost of her care. Her grandparents help me a lot, but they are aging and living on a fixed income. Even with medical coverage there is still a financial shortage between $500 and $1000 every month. My hope is to pave a path that will successfully contribute to her quality of life, and unfortunately this requires a lot of money.

On December 14, 2014, a tragedy occurred. My daughter, Chloe Boulange, was born a healthy and happy little girl. Unfortunately, she experienced Shaken Baby Syndrome at 7 months old. The court case is ongoing so that is all I can say about that. From that moment on, Chloe will never be the same and our lives are forever changed. As a result of this devastating tragedy Chloe requires lifelong medical care.

Chole has traumatic brain injury-induced Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy causes impaired and involuntary movement, exaggerated reflexes, and floppiness throughout the body. The injury also caused a severe case of scoliosis in her spine. Chloe cannot sit or hold her head up she is wheelchair-bound. Her day-to-day consists of being connected to a feeding tube, ongoing pain, multiple medications, daily breathing treatments, many appointments, diaper changes and several types of therapies.

The contorted position she is in caused her to have hip displacement where her hip was 80% out of the socket. Chloe has been hospitalized for multiple surgeries. Chloe is medically fragile and is very susceptible to other illnesses. Chloe has cortical vision impairment which means her eyes are functional but the part of her brain that processes vision is damaged, she has mild hearing loss, a sleep disorder that requires her to use a C-PAP machine and oxygen at night because of poor muscle tone and lung health.

It’s hard to know that our whole lives would be so different if Chloe hadn’t been injured. She gets a cold, and she could be hospitalized with pneumonia. She could have a seizure anytime and does several times a day. It’s scary, sad, and challenging to watch her struggle to survive. Her only way to express that something is wrong, is to scream and cry because she can’t talk. She has a speech therapist to try to help her communicate and a physical therapist to help her learn to use her body and a pulmonologist to help her with her lung health, she has a neurologist and a nutritionist, which is all appointments and time I’m away from my other children and my job. I have to hire help to cover the care of Chloe 24 hours a day 7 days a week. What was done to Chloe is permanent and it’s devastating. The whole family was traumatized and still needs therapy. However, Chloe is loved by all of us.

Chloe's family and friends have formed a wonderful support team. She has received amazing medical care with her OHP insurance. She has a lot of hours of paid care through the state of Oregon. Shriners has been a wonderful resource as well. Her church bought her a used wheelchair van. I am so fortunate to have those resources.

Despite all her challenges, Chloe has consistently been a joyful, smiley, giggly girl. Chloe Enjoying Life She is a light at home, at school and wherever she goes. She loves her family, loves being around children and animals, loves outdoor time, especially lying on her cot near the campfire while camping. She wants to participate in life around her.

Thank you for your financial support towards Chloe's quality of life. Your contribution will give Chloe all the supports she needs to thrive.
