A Future Begins With You By Arafat Pombolo. My name is Arafat Pombolo, I’m 15 years old, and I’m raising my voice for the voiceless—the children of Congo who are suffering in silence. I come from a Congolese household where we are taught to value family, community, and faith. But I’ve also grown up watching my people face unthinkable hardships. Poverty, lack of education, hunger, and disease are everyday realities for millions of Congolese children. I can’t ignore it anymore—and I won’t. That’s why I’m starting this GoFundMe: to raise money to support Congolese children who have been forgotten by the world, and to help give them a future they deserve. ⸻ The Harsh Reality • Over 43% of children in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are chronically malnourished. • More than 7 million children are out of school due to poverty, conflict, and lack of infrastructure. • Most schools lack even the most basic supplies—no desks, no books, no clean water, no electricity. • Many children walk miles barefoot just to reach a classroom, if there is one at all. For so many children in Congo, the dream of getting an education is just that—a dream. Poverty forces children to work in dangerous conditions just to help their families survive. They are bright, talented, and full of potential—but they’re being held back by circumstances beyond their control. ⸻ How Your Donation Will Help The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward: • Purchasing school supplies: notebooks, pencils, backpacks, uniforms, and other essentials. • Providing meals for schoolchildren, so they can learn without hunger. • Supporting community-led education programs that keep children safe, engaged, and hopeful. • Helping build or repair schools in rural areas where education is almost nonexistent. • Equipping children with dignity—because every child deserves the tools to dream. ⸻ Why This Matters I may be only 15, but I’ve seen enough to know that change doesn’t come from waiting—it comes from acting. I want to be part of the solution for my people. I want to use my voice to help the children who don’t have the chance to speak for themselves. This campaign is more than a fundraiser—it’s a movement. A movement to show that the children of Congo matter. That they are not forgotten.
