My name is Cheryl Jenkins and I met Father Juan Madrid on a flight to Denver as he was doing mission work in the US back in 2022. I have been an eyewitness of the type of mission he does and I have decided to help him to reach his goals.

Fr. Juan, is a Catholic priest from the Archdiocese of Denver. Last year (2024) he was sent in mission to Alto Hospicio. Alto Hospicio is now a city born from a shantytown in the north side of the Chilean desert, in South America. Even though the challenges of poverty, violence, and drugs are evident in this city, the mission of Fr. Madrid aims to bring, through the Gospel, airs of hope for a new life.

This mission in Alto Hospicio has many projects ahead, especially of construction. But, according to Fr. Juan, “the most important project is to transmit faith to the next generation.”

For this reason, this initiative aims to raise funds for the youth of the mission of Alto Hospicio to go on pilgrimage to Rome. The youth of the mission are already working hard to attend the Jubilee Meeting with the pope in July of this year. In order for this youth group to attend this meeting we must ensure all expenses are covered by mid-June.

Contributions can be directed to the account named Missio Ad Gentes Alto Hospicio, designated specifically for this Pilgrimage.

The total pilgrimage cost is $2,600 per person. However, 11 of the 14 pilgrims need an additional $400 to manage paperwork, travel for visas, visas, passports, and other expenses. Thus, the minimum required to support everyone totals $40,800.

If we are blessed with surplus funds, they will significantly benefit our additional building projects.
