Update from my sister:
Good news
Four things have been very encouraging:
* 1. I found my brain specialist, Dr. Louise, a naturopath. She has gave me a dozen exercises, 12 to 24 seconds each, which re-regulate my neurology in 5 minutes. At age 70, with 4 head injuries, starting at age 1, this doctor’s help is a complete surprise. I want to find a way to get more treatment from her, as her specialty is not covered by Medicare.
*2. The other night I met a neuro-diverse neighbor in our mutual driveway, who immediately asked me to contribute my photograph greeting cards andwearable fiber art to her just opened brick-and-mortar and online artisan’s gift shop. That could really help my income over time. And because she is neuro-diverse, she understood why I was 3 hours late to the shop opening (she understood how hard I had been working, and that it just takes me longer than the next person).
*3. And something very special: a long-time friend has taken over doing our laundry. I haven’t had the money, or the car to get to the laundromat, so it is a major contribution for my friend to wash my clothes, and especially all the cat linens it takes to keep the rental nice. What a great and kind thing to do.
*4. Another friend helped me with so many loads to move out of the cabin on the land. She just made it her personal mission to say yes. So did the friend in #3. I couldn’t have done it without their help.
*5. Bonus encouragement: Yesterday I told my landlord I don’t have the money to pay him the rest of the deposit and the water bill yet, and he said it was okay.
More news
*Thanks to everyone who has helped us so much, to get into this good rental. I am still paying the deposits, and quite behind on bills. That’s because it cost $8700 to pay for the hotel and camping while we were homeless, (17 moves with the two cats in 40 days, all at high rates for summer) and to pay for the first month’s rent. My social security is still my only source of income, that means after rent I have only $113 for the whole month, which doesn’t pay my bills.
*So I have a lot of ground to make up, very quickly. I hope you can help us. Meanwhile, I am promoting my writing and courses, to start bringing in money. It’s tricky because the technology to do this is far downstream of where I was, when I was last earning a living in 2006. I am still disabled from TBIs (traumatic brain injuries) but I’m hoping the technology which I’m learning will make the difference so I am able to make a living with the brain I’ve got.
Mark’s Update:
*My sister had raised her credit score by 100 points in a year, but now it has dropped 40 points (because of the hotel bills while she was homeless with the cats), and she wasn’t able to get a balance transfer like she had planned, to help her pay it off. (Nobody can plan for being evicted for asking for safe water for over a year, especially not after lifting 57 tons of bottled water to try to make it work, while waiting for the repairs the landlord never made, and then having to evacuate with their cats from a rental with no water and no power.
*She is grateful that her car lasted to the last drive of the move, but as expected, the timing belt is slipping now, (It was 2000 miles overdue) and she haven’t driven it for 10 days and counting. That will cost about $1000.
*If her car were working, she had planned to empty the storage unit into the rental, but now she has to keep the storage unit for another month; that is $109 she can’t save towards the rent deposit or the timing belt repair, or the other overdue bills.(She had gotten the storage unit because she had to start moving long before she found the new rental.)
So can I please ask your help again?
PLEASE SEND $5 AND TEXT 2 FRIENDS and ask them to do the same.
*If you do this exactly, she has the best chance to keep this rental. Please do it right now, so this money can reach her in time to pay the rest of the September rent, and so the rest of the deposit money is coming into her account in 5 days.
*And then as soon as possible she will get her 23 year old car repaired. Please help her bridge this gap in her income and mobility. In the meantime she is working very hard to launch her business and get back on her feet.
*Thank you all.
