Hello, everyone.
My name is Euanne Mae Vallente, 31 years old, mother of 4-year-old, living in the Philippines, currently facing an illness called trophoblastic disease.
My journey starts last December when I found out that I was pregnant. I was overjoyed as my son was longing to have a sibling since a long time.
The day before Christmas, I was rushed to ER due to vaginal bleeding, I was put in a bed rest and then confined as I was losing blood – I had a bag of blood transfusion and suspected to have hereditary spherocytosis (blood related illness).
January this year, after I had my transvaginal ultrasound on my 7th week, I was informed that “no baby was found” and discuss result with my OBGY doctor. Then came the sad news that it was indeed Molar Pregnancy – where in a tumor was form inside the amniotic sac instead of a baby. I need to undergo a dilatation and curettage (D and C) to remove them.
After constant checkups and analysis from February and March dealing with various aspects of my recent molar pregnancy, the doctor found out that my Beta HCG hormones (pregnancy hormone which also indicate if the tumor is being active or not) was raising up, instead going down. To remove this cancer cells, I must undergo Chemotherapy– it was ruled out Persistent Trophoblastic Disease – Stage 1.

However, problem after problem, as mentioned above, due to my blood related illness, I am required to do workout laboratories and take precautionary measures before I started the Therapy. April 1st, I had another three bags of blood transfusion as the chemotherapy meds is myelotoxic (destructive to bone marrow or any of its elements).
I was discharged from flood transfusion for the chemotherapy the following day. All seemed to be well, and I finished my first chemotherapy session. However, I suffered from serious side effects. My face was bloated and red, I had rashes all over my body, I had canker sore in my mouth and throat, which prevented me from getting enough sleep and to eat food. I was rushed to the emergency room once again as my reaction was severe and required medical interventions. I was confined and hospitalized again.
All the complications mentioned above not only delayed the start of the second chemotherapy as I needed to gain enough strength to go through it again but also incurred additional expenses. The doctors have to use more expensive hypersensitivity chemotherapy and to reduce the side effects, I need to take three antihistamine shots every day.
The doctors prescribed a hospitalization during the chemotherapy, however, I couldn't stay in the hospital and pleaded that I could come home because, with no income, I couldn't afford to stay in the hospital.
This week, I started my second chemotherapy session and I went through the same process all over again: blood transfusion before chemotherapy and on a standby and closely monitoring of my doctor for possible side effect backing up with lots of mandatory laboratories and tests in between.
All our savings and support from my families and friends already ran out for the medical expenses from last December. With this GoFundMe initiative, I hope to be able to continue and to complete my treatment and to be able to sustain daily life until I recover and be able to work again.
When I finish my medications and treatments, if there would be some funding left, I will donate it back for a worthy cause.
My family and I are highly appreciative of all your donation regardless of the amount because every support counts.
Salamat po. Thank you!
