Hello, my name is Ryan Lewis, and I’m reaching out for support on behalf of my father, Emmet Lewis. Recently, our lives were turned upside down when my father was involved in a devastating car accident. He lost control of his vehicle in the morning driving to his home. He reverted into a side ditch on the side of the road and the vehicle went airborn. The impact caused burst fractures in his spine, with some bone fragments splintering into his nerve endings, leaving him paralyzed. This is only a fraction of the damage done to his spine. For now and the unforeseen future, he is left paralyzed in the legs below the knees and cannot walk unless anything changes and he progresses. There is no timetable for this, his body will decide if he can regain the feeling.
He underwent a grueling surgery to fuse his spine and stabilize his condition, which included inserting hardware to support certain areas of his spine. Although the surgery was successful, it’s just the beginning of a long and challenging journey.
Right now, my father is facing overwhelming challenges. He’s unable to work, is struggling to keep up with his daily bills, and is now behind on essential payments. Most importantly, he’s focused on his rehabilitation as he fights to regain his ability to walk.
We are asking for help to cover his mounting medical expenses, daily living costs, and the extensive rehabilitation needed to help him walk again. He has fallen behind on some of his current bills. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in his recovery process and help alleviate some of the financial burdens during this difficult time.
My brother, Kyle Lewis, and myself are his immediate support but we also live our own lives at home. Myself with a wife and daughter as well as one newborn upon us. Helping with his recovery during this time, we must take from our daily schedules as well. We have no problem helping him out, but time is also a factor considering our day to day activities. We have to work and provide childcare, our families at our own homes need us too. These are the most important tasks we have to complete each day. I mention this because fuel for visits to deliver supplies, general support, as well as the emergency visits, is not free, we will be using our own means to help him out. Money from donors will also alleviate the strain on everyone involved. Although funds will be placed with Emmet 100%, you’re also helping his sons out because we are all in this together, what he doesn’t have, we all pick it up for him. Donors will be so very much appreciated by us and our father to get him back on his feet.
My father is a very bright and loving human being. He is a loving grandfather and funny guy. To me, he can get along with anyone and create a joyous room wherever he may be. Emmet has always been there for his sons as well as his community. Always there to lend a helping hand. Always there to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. He has always been a hard worker which I like most about him, and it’s taught my brother and I to carry all that with us through life. We love our father dearly, we want the best for him and need help from our community.
We will keep everyone updated on his status, and we can hope for the best. If anyone has any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to Kyle Lewis or myself. God bless.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
