Let's Help Dieudonne, An IDP Attend University

Donation protected
My name is Ngum Dieudonne Kobobey; I hail from the Northwest region of Cameroon. Being a first-generation high school student and coming from a community in which many do not see education as a priority, I have set my sights on working hard to be an excellent example to the youth in my community. I come from a family of three and have lost both parents. I am the first in my family to finish Advance Levels (GCE) and the first to be going to university. All my life, I have had to do odd jobs after school, such as: picking snails in the forest and bushes to sell, doing farm work, and pushing truck in the market to raise money for my education.

In 2016, political tensions, which started as protests, erupted in Cameroon's Northwest and Southwest regions. These protests escalated into violent clashes and a full-blown humanitarian crisis. I had already worked, saved and paid tuition for myself and my younger sister during this period. Unfortunately, due to the increasing insecurity in the anglophone region, we were forced to abandon everything and flee to Douala, a relatively stable city. Settling down in a new town was challenging for me and my younger sister, whom I was equally taking care of. I had to do odd jobs to raise money to cater to our needs while looking for scholarships to continue my education. Things got worse when I lost my mother around this same period, and we were all left alone since we grew up not knowing our father.

However, I was determined not to give up on my dream of pursuing a quality education and using the knowledge to transform my community. To my greatest relief, I was awarded a partial scholarship of US$2000 to study Computer Science at African Leadership University (ALU) in Rwanda. Unfortunately, I still need some funds to complete my tuition, accommodation, and other living expenses to enable me to pursue my education.

Below is a budget breakdown of how much I still need:

Remaining tuition lacking = US$1000
Feeding = 55$ x 12 months = $660
Accommodation= $600
Passport = $200
Flight = $350
Laptop = $150
Books = $200
Traveling box= $30
Dresses= $50
Phone= $100

Total = USD 3,340

I will be very grateful for your kind contributions to help me achieve my dream education at African Leadership University.
