Support Davia's Dream of Becoming a Teacher

Hi everyone, my name is Davia Bowers and I am a proud student at Tuskegee University heading into my sophomore year as an early childhood education major. This is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do, publicly asking for help, but sometimes life humbles you and today I’m choosing to be vulnerable because my education and my future are on the line. Right now, I’m facing a tuition balance of $1500 that’s due by July 25, and I need $3000 total to cover the full academic year. If I can’t pay the upcoming balance, I won’t be financially clear to return to school this fall.

I come from a single-parent household. My mom is my biggest supporter. She’s strong, hardworking, and has always been the one to help others, but in this situation, no matter how hard she tries, she just can’t do it alone. She makes too much to qualify for financial aid and too little to carry the full cost of my education. We’re stuck in this frustrating gap where there’s little to no help but still a heavy burden.

Despite the challenges, I’ve managed to maintain a 3.5 GPA and I’ve thrown myself into my studies and my purpose. My heart is set on becoming an early childhood educator not just because I love kids, but because I believe in nurturing them in the most formative years of their lives. Children need more than just information; they need to be seen, loved, and believed in. This summer, I’ve been working as a teacher and it’s confirmed that I’m walking in my calling. I’ve had the privilege to care for children who don’t always get that kind of love at home. I know what it’s like to struggle and I want to be the kind of teacher who makes a lasting difference.

I’m asking for your help, whether that’s $5, $50, or even just a share of this campaign to help me stay at Tuskegee, a place that means so much to me. It’s more than a school; it’s legacy, it’s purpose, and I want to make both my family and my university proud. If you ever needed help, if you believe in education, or if you just feel moved to support, please consider contributing. I won’t waste the opportunity. I’m working hard and I’m going to keep pushing, but I need a village right now to help me cross this line. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, with gratitude.
