Some of you know Chris and Gina because of their their deep passion and advocacy for animals. For nearly two decades, they have dedicated their everyday lives to rescuing and caring for sick, injured, and abandoned animals that others would not help. They run the nonprofit All Those Left Behind Animal Rescue, Inc., and have spent countless hours ensuring animals are safe, fed, and receive the veterinary care they need, often paying for it themselves when funds run low. Over the past few years, they have also poured their time, energy, and personal resources into building a new facility to give rescued animals a second chance. Even when funding ran out, they continued supporting the project so the dream of the new “Mutt Mansion” could become a safe home for animals in need. Chris and Gina are the people who step in when others step out. They have helped countless animals find loving forever homes, and for those who didn’t, they provided a life filled with care, compassion, and love.

Chris has lived with cystic fibrosis his entire life and being born in 1967 the life expectancy of having CF was only into their teens. Chris has defied those odds and way surpassed all the doctor's expectations. Chris and Gina’s lives changed suddenly when they both caught a severe virus. While Gina recovered, Chris became fatally ill due to it complicating his cystic fibrosis. He was rushed to the ER and admitted to the ICU, where he spent nearly a month battling multiple life-threatening complications including infections, sepsis, pneumonia, lung hemorrhaging, and a cardiac episode. Doctors repeatedly warned that he might not survive, even at one point family and close friends being called to the hospital to say their last goodbyes. But Chris proved to be an incredible fighter as he has his whole life. With Gina constantly by his side advocating for him, and the support and prayers of many, he miraculously pulled through. After weeks on a ventilator, countless procedures, and intensive care, Chris has now finally been able to return home. However, his fight is far from over. Chris now faces a long and difficult recovery. He requires daily care, ongoing IV antibiotics, breathing treatments, medications, nutritional support and frequent doctor and specialist visits. Because of this, Chris is unable to work and Gina must care for him around the clock while continuing to run the animal rescue. Medical costs, everyday living expenses and costs to care for the animals are quickly adding up and they are now facing a difficult financial burden while trying to recover and continue caring for the animals who depend on them. They have been the people who are always helping others and countless animals and now they are in need to have family, friends and the community support them during this difficult road while they try to regain their footing. Any support will help relieve this stress and allow Chris and Gina to focus on healing while they continue the work they’ve both dedicated their lives to.
