Help Charles Haack fight pancreatic cancer

Doação protegida

Charles (Chuck) Haack received a devastating diagnosis of stage four pancreatic cancer 6 weeks ago at just 43 years old. On July 10th, Chuck visited a local clinic for severe back pain. He was told to follow-up with his regular physician to be checked for a hernia. With an appointment scheduled for July 15th, he awoke on the 13th with symptoms of jaundice. It was in the emergency room of a local hospital at 8:30 in the morning that he was told there was a mass in his chest, likely cancer, and he would need to be transferred to a larger hospital for treatment. He was taken several hours away for surgery to insert a stent to allow his liver and pancreas to function, and to have a biopsy on the tumor that was closing off his organs.

Since his original diagnosis he has undergone additional surgeries to insert a power port to facilitate chemotherapy and to check to see if the cancer has spread to other organs. Unfortunately, the doctors have found cancerous cells in both his stomach and liver. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most devastating cancers in existence. It spreads quickly and is resistant to many treatments. Chuck is a fighter determined to be here to watch his kids grow. Many of you know that he is a dedicated, hardworking, and loving husband and father. He has two young children, 9-year-old Andrew and 4-year-old Charlotte, that need their dad.

Chuck is the primary provider for his family and has been unable to work while undergoing treatment. Pancreatic cancer requires an extremely harsh chemotherapy regime that makes it difficult to do normal daily activities. His family has been left with little means to make ends meet and continue to ensure he receives the medical care that is necessary to give him a chance at survival.

We have started this fundraising effort to help his cover the costs of living expenses and medical care so Chuck and his family can focus on their fight. His medical treatments will last at least six months and require some travel out of state. The coming days, weeks and months will be filled with doctors’ appointments, hospital stays, surgeries and lots of medication- not to mention the regular costs of food, gas, and utilities for the family. From the bottom of our hearts, we ask that you consider donating to the family- any amount will help. Even if you cannot give, please share the link and send positive thoughts and prayers.

We thank everyone for their support!
