My name is Mekaila, and I'm fundraising for my Dad. - Clay Mills. Many of you might know him as Captain Clay, but for me and my brother, he's Dad.
On or around the 17th of February my Dad was riding his motorcycle on Highway 1 in the Florida Keys. Near mile marker 9 (9.2?) a dump truck made an illegal turn right in front of him, setting off a chain of events that would land my Dad in the ICU.
In an attempt to avoid hitting the dump truck full force, my Dad laid down his motorcyle, incurring numerous injuries. We are not sure of everything that happened as we've not received the accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol as of yet.
When Dad presented at the hospital in Key West, they realized his injuries were too extensive to be treated there, and LifeFlighted him to a facility in Miami. There they learned he has 9 broken ribs, a punctured & collapsed lung, a broken wrist, a fractured pelvis , fractured left femur, a laserated kidney, and other minor fractures, bumps and bruises.
My Dad is a Sailboat Captain and a professional woodworker/cabinet maker. Spring and Summer are the height of the season in which he earns his living. With his recovery and rehabilitation expecting to take several months, we're asking for your help.
Dad's monthly financial obligations are few. We're seeking to raise $5,000 to meet those obligations for the next several months, as well as being able to afford a few sundries he might need while recouperating.
Will you please join us in helping to raise these funds? If 100 people give $50 - goal met...if 200 people give $25 - goal met. Whatever you can help with - we express mighty appreciation to you and for you.
God Bless
