Help Cameron Moss replace lightning-struck truck
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Montana Moss and I'm asking for donations to help my son Cameron satisfy a deductible with his auto insurance provider and give some assistance toward buying a new truck. His current one was struck by lightning.
Cameron is a traveling nurse who stays at campgrounds wherever he works in a trailer he bought early last year. His original truck was rear-ended in May and his tow hitch was destroyed. He had to buy a new used truck and then replace its transmission. He used up his savings but wasn't worried because he was about to start a new job in Arizona. Then lightning struck his new truck, making it completely inoperable. He had to repair the electrical system in his trailer also damaged by the lightning, but still has no air conditioning. The dealership has tried to fix his truck but costs are heading toward $30,000 and beyond (more than the rig is worth), so they're telling his auto insurance carrier to total it.
That could happen at any time, so Cameron is desperate to acquire the money to satisfy his deductible. He's hoping the insurance company will pay for the repairs as well, but so far they are balking. Once that is all resolved, however, he won't have any funds at all to pay toward buying a new vehicle. So he's stuck.
Cameron loves nursing. He became a traveling nurse so he could work in different parts of the US to find a spot where he might settle down with his cat Badger. He was so excited to get his trailer. Since then, though, things have gone from bad to worse with no relief in sight. He is deeply depressed and losing hope that his luck will turn around again. With his job, it will take months and months to reach a place where he could fix the problem on his own. Meanwhile, he's relying on Ubers and a friend to get to work. Otherwise, he can't do anything for himself, and he sure can't move on.
The funds will be used to pay Cameron's deductible and also any costs the insurance company won't cover. Anything above that could help him secure a new loan on a replacement vehicle. I'm sorry I don't have actual figures. Time is of the essence as the claim could be settled any day now, but he has no idea what the big picture looks like.
