UPDATE: Cali will need eye-removal surgery soon. The cost is around $1,800 in addition to a few follow up appointment costs + pain/infection meds. Thank you all for your support.
Cali is my sweet husky who’s almost 11 years old and has a way of bringing comfort and joy to everyone she meets. Many years ago, she was diagnosed with glaucoma, which caused one of her beautiful brown eyes to slowly turn blue and cloudy. We later learned she was blind in that eye. After several vet visits and a referral to a specialist, medications helped manage her pain, and for a long time, Cali was able to live a happy, comfortable life.
Recently, that’s changed. Her affected eye is now often closed and appears red when she does open it. She’s noticeably less active, sleeping more, and it’s clear she’s uncomfortable. A few years ago, our vet warned us that if her eye condition ever worsened, treatment would be complicated due to her glaucoma. Unfortunately, that time has come, and she now urgently needs specialist consults and likely surgery to relieve her pain. Without intervention, she risks losing sight in both eyes.
Cali has always been the sweetest girl — gentle, loving, and happiest when she’s surrounded by people giving her attention and pets. She’s been there for us through so much, and now it’s my turn to show up for her. I’m asking for help to cover the cost of her upcoming specialist visits, surgery, and ongoing care so she can be comfortable and pain-free again.
Any support, whether through a donation or sharing her story, truly means the world to us. Thank you for taking the time to read about Cali and for caring about her.
