Hello! My name is Michelle Cortines, and I am organizing this crowdfund campaign to support my family's business in Calgary.
Spring is just around the corner! With the conclusion of what seemed to be the never-ending construction season, we can finally hear the birds chirping in the streets of Marda Loop. It's music to our ears!
About Aroma
At Aroma Café Bar we LOVE live performances and supporting local artists! Whether it's musicians, poets, writers, comedians, or actors, Aroma welcomes all-around talented Calgarians. Our cafe has been a space where they can express and explore their art form with an aromatic cup of coffee in hand.
What's Happened
As of November 2025, we have had to put a temporary pause on our live events at our 33 Ave location, due to concerns about the amount of sound that bleeds from our venue.
Our Solution
Our solution is to install sound-reduction ceiling panels and modify our sound system to decrease the amount of sound that bleeds out. This renovation will help optimize the sound quality and venue comfort for performers, event goers, and neighbours. However, these expenses, along with other renovations that need urgent attention, are beyond our budget to pay out of pocket.
Our Goal
This is where the community can help us bring live events back to Aroma! Our goal is to fundraise $20,000 by the end of April 2026. This money will be used for these renovation projects:
- Noise Reduction and Sound Improvement: Enhance the acoustics of our café
- A Mini Stage: Provide an elevated performance space for artists while improving visibility for audience members.
- Electrical Upgrade: Increase outlet capacity to improve the food-preparation area to serve our customers higher-quality products.
