As most of you are aware, my sister, Denice Hickerson has passed on to be with the Lord. We don’t know when or how but just that she was found at home in her bed. My hope is that she was peacefully sleeping. We won’t know answers until the autopsy is performed. I will continue to say “we” as I write not only for myself but for her children, mother, and siblings, to try and figure our way through this and grieve at the same time. All taking part and helping in some way, funny how tragedy always brings you closer. I think I speak for our entire family when I say, tragedy has continued to hit us over the last couple years and this is beyond difficult. Denice lived in Oakland CA in her own little studio apartment, she was so proud of herself but so very lonely for her family. Her plan this summer was to visit her kids, grandkids and anyone else she could see along the way. Her last trip here she had a blast but said she didn’t have enough time to see everyone. When Covid hit she couldn’t travel and given her health conditions she was practically quarantined. We want nothing more than to bring her home where she belongs. I write because the expenses are, and as always unexpected. What we’ve come up with so far is cremation services are around $1,800-$2,000, they will perform the autopsy, cremate, and send her back home. Additional costs for the cleaning of her apartment and a Yearn. We are keeping this to the bare minimum while working with very limited time. Again due to covid the morgues and facilities are full and cannot hold her past next Thursday 6/11/20, with everything needing to be paid for. Anything at all you can help with is more than appreciated, as I hear Denices words in the back of my mind, “hey mom, you got $5 bucks for gas?” Lol not sure if that’s what the $5 always went for, but hey it worked. So....I’m asking for Denice, you got $5 bucks for gas, or $1 for a Dr. Pepper, even a prayer to share.....Please, let’s bring her back home for good. Once we get the fine lines detailed out, our plan is to have service in Wenatchee. Will keep you all posted. We love you all!
