Help Brian Beat Cancer

My brother Brian is the type of person who lights up any room the moment he steps in. He has such a positive, magnetic presence that draws you in. You realize you feel even better than when he first walked in.

Brian had been experiencing muscle spasms and pain off and on since February. He saw his doctor, who told him that he pulled a muscle during a dance audition. On September 8th, Brian started having intense muscle spasms and pain. By Friday, 9/20, Brian noticed that part of his lower chest/upper abdominal region was numb. He had decreased sensation on the outside of his legs. He went to the ER, and imaging revealed he had a severe compression fracture in his Thoracic Spinal Cord.

By Saturday, 9/21 Brian had urgent neurosurgery to prevent paralysis.

His surgeon found a tumor, which had compressed Brian’s spinal cord and caused the fractures. It was removed and has been sent to pathology. We will know more answers by the middle of next week.

He currently has to heal from the surgery for at least six weeks while working with physical and occupational therapies. Then he will be in a back brace for 3 months.

He will be unable to work during this time.

We wanted to find a way to alleviate the financial stress Brian is concerned about for himself and his life partner of 14 years, Victor.
