Hi, friends, and friends of friends,

Thank you for being here. I’m writing to ask you to please help support my sister with her cancer treatments.

My name is Flo, and I’m helping to raise money for my sister, Berline, a nurse against her battle with metastasized Breast Cancer to her right lung. She is 29 years old and is currently seeking treatment in the Dominican Republic (DR) as it’s been hard trying to get her back here into the U.S.

Berline was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the end of 2017. She had treatment between the DR and back home, in Haiti.

While undergoing chemo in Haiti, she was supposed to take both pills and Trastuzumab injection every month for the duration of a year. Her doctor, at that time told her that the injection wasn’t necessary since she was taking several pills and also undergoing chemo treatments. She also had a single mastectomy to prevent any possible growth of new tumors.

In June 2023, she was with my mom (who also was going through radiation therapy for Breast Cancer) in the DR. Berline went to see the oncologist for a check up. That’s when she was told that the cancer has metastasized to her right lung as confirmed by biopsies.

Some of you have met Berline in Portland or DC a few years ago. Due to nonstop political instabilities in Haiti, the US Embassy has suspended all visas for Haitians. In March 2023, I submitted the I-134A application, a 2-year humanitarian program, where she could work here legally and get health insurance and to pursue treatment, but we still haven’t heard from USCIS.

While we’re already starting with treatment, I need your help to ensure that she doesn’t miss any of the prescribed medications or have a break in between sessions due to the lack of funding. She will be taking Trastuzumab, Fulvestrant and Gosereline (Prozoladex) until she is cancer free.
