For the last year Al & Kaitlin have been struggling to find an answer to his chronic pancreatitis issues. In October of 2020 we received the news we were all dreading: cancer.
Al is a loving husband to his wife Kaitlin and devoted father to his four young children Aaron (6), James (4), Raina (2), Eden (1). Al has been working nights to provide for their family. Kaitlin is a stay-at-home mom who homeschools the oldest, Aaron. Al loves telling 'dad jokes' and is always ready to listen with a sympathetic ear. As a social worker he provides advice to many including his family and friends. He enjoys playing Minecraft with his boys.
Al has neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately, this cancer has metastasized to his liver. The doctors believe it started small and hid in the pancreatic ducts where it was undetected by the many, many scans and laboratory tests and treatments Al has undergone.
Right now treatment will focus on improving the quality of Al's life. His doctors also hope to work on longevity through his treatments. For those of you that know Al has been dealing with excruciating pain for the last year and a half because of the pancreatitis. At this point the doctors have been unable to provide a timeline for Al & Kaitlin but as many of you know pancreatic cancer does not have the best of odds. We hope to beat those odds but are also facing the reality of the situation. Al has expressed that he would like to celebrate 10 years of marriage in July of 2021 with Kaitlin.
With much encouragement from family and friends Al & Kaitlin have agreed to start this Go Fund Me. There will be many expenses related to treatment ahead for their family that will not be covered by insurance. In addition to treatment costs Al has expressed the desire to take a trip (possibly this winter) to the Adirondacks to create memories for the kids with him. They also hope to take other day trips to create lasting memories with Al & the kids.
Kaitlin also has a busy household. As you might imagine running a household with four children and getting Al to appointments will take a toll on Kaitlin. We are looking to hire some help for them.
We know Al & Kaitlin and their family are much loved by their friends, family, and community. There has been an outpouring of support and requests to know HOW people can best help them through this time. Of course, continue to pray. Donate to this Go Fund Me so that through this battle the Harding Family does not have to worry about the added cost of fighting this invasive cancer.
