Help me get to YWAM

Hey, im Simeon, and this is what I'm trying to do and why.

I will be doing a Half Marathon to fundraise for my YWAM course.

What I am doing and why

I am about to finish my A levels and have been wondering what comes next…In April 2024 I began to feel that rather than spend time working and travelling, I should spend my time focusing on going deeper in my faith and learning more about myself and who I am in God. I started to hear more about an organisation called Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and the more I heard, the more excited I became. I took time to think and pray about whether this was something I should dedicate my year after college to and as I looked at the different places and possibilities to study with YWAM, I felt this was exactly what I needed to do.

Where I am going

I began looking at a lot of different countries where YWAM ran a discipleship trainmen school (DTS), there were so many different and exciting opportunities. I looked at Hawaii, Canada, the USA and other parts of the world. After careful prayer and consideration, I felt called to get in touch with YWAM in Skein, Norway.

Once I made contact, I found out that the DTS in Skein was a 7-month adventure-focused discipleship training school that had outreach and support missions to the Balkans, locally within Norway and to other far-reaching parts of the world.

What is a DTS

The DTS is basically a 7 month period of time where I get to live in a community in another country, spend time learning more about Jesus and his call on our lives and benefit from amazing teaching, prayer and practical opportunities to develop and share my faith, After the ‘secure phase’ I go, with my other students, on an ‘outreach phase’ for several months to support local communities, churches and people across the world. It is a super exciting chance to grow both as an individual, and a Christian and to make lifelong friends in the process.

How can you help?

During college, I have been working in a pizza shop and saving money for travelling. I am investing all the money I have saved as well as all the money my parents have saved for me into this experience. I will still need to fundraise some additional money to sustain me throughout the year and to be able to afford the outreach period, There are a few ways people can support me throughout the year:

Pray for me: I would love people to pray for me before I go to YWAM and to pray that I would be able to raise the funds I need, be ready for the experience ahead and that God would take care of all my needs.

Support me through a donation or sponsorship: I need to raise additional funds for the year. I am going to train and run a half marathon and would love people to sponsor me or leave a donation on my GoFundMe page to help me towards this target

Commit to support me throughout the year: I would love a group of people to pray for me throughout the year, to keep in touch and to support me with regular giving during the year. If you can hold me in prayer during the year and commit to a regular weekly or monthly support donation through a standing order this would be a valuable support.

It feels weird asking people to help me towards this crazy goal, my parents told me to trust God and he will provide so here I go!
