Dear friends and family,

With hearts shattered and eyes filled with tears, we share the deepest sorrow that our beloved best boy, Perun, passed away peacefully on October 7th, late Tuesday evening. He was surrounded by Lada, the kitties, and us, his pack, family. I left work early to be by his side, ensuring he wasn’t alone. True to his loyal heart, Perun waited until we were all together. When the moment felt right, he let go peacefully, wrapped in love and gentle touch, with soft healing music easing his transition.

Perun’s presence filled our lives with strength, comfort, and unwavering loyalty. Though always ready to protect, he carried a deep gentleness, especially when it was time to play. He had a box full of dog and cat toys, but he always sought out his favorites, a crushed, chewed-up squeaky toy insert and a squeaky pink pacifier. Those little treasures brought him immense joy and reminded us of the soft, silly soul beneath his strong, intimidating exterior. He allowed himself to lower his guard and shone his gentle side, especially when he roughhoused with Lada, full of energy, yet careful and sweet.

Through Perun’s journey with kidney disease, we truly learned the meaning of care. We became his voice, his medical team, his advocates, and his healers in our own way. He taught us patience, presence, and how to treasure each moment. Every single day was a gift, an opportunity to cherish his strength, his gentle eyes, and the simple joy of having him by our side. Though his body is gone, his spirit remains with us. We know his proud, echoing barks will continue through the woods, chasing deer into the depths.

Our house is quieter now. No toys lie scattered, no huge wet nose pressed against the glass door, no German Shepherd ears and eyes watching from the deck, tracing our every move. No more barking at neighbors passing by, only a gray dog bed, silent and empty, a space once filled by Perun, and an empty bowl that stays clean. I already miss the tumbleweeds of fur, the morning walks, and him at my right side, always watching his surroundings and ready to chase a squirrel. These simple moments were ordinary, yet they wove the threads of daily routine life we cherished the most.

Perun Von Folkvangr was cremated, and his ashes are now home with us, where he belongs. We find comfort knowing he is still here, a reminder of the fierce devotion and loyalty that always shone in his eyes. In quiet moments, we will feel him near, standing guard as he always did. Our hearts ache, yet we are forever grateful for the years of love, protection, and joy he gave us.

We are deeply thankful to everyone for the kindness and support you shared during his journey. Every contribution helped cover his medical care, vet visits, medications, catheters, IV and SubQ fluids, special renal diet, and cremation expenses. Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted animal lovers,

Our beloved German Shepherd boy, Perun, is in urgent need of life-saving veterinary care. He has been battling chronic kidney infections, urinary tract inflammation, and a rare congenital condition, duplicated urethra that puts him at constant risk for recurring infections and serious kidney damage. Despite our best efforts and resources, we’ve done everything we can at home, natural remedies, prescription medications, careful monitoring, and specialized supplements.

But his condition has recently worsened, and our veterinarian has made it clear, Perun needs to be hospitalized immediately to stabilize him and begin deeper treatment.

We’ve reached the point where emergency admission is critical, but we cannot proceed without a deposit. We’ve already spent and exhausted everything we had on ongoing care and diagnostics.

We are humbly asking for your support to help us admit Perun to the hospital and get him the intensive care he needs now. His current treatment includes specialized diagnostics, IV and SubQ fluids, medications and ongoing monitoring, all of which are necessary to stabilize him and improve his quality of life.
