Hi, my name is Renee Havins and I'm setting this fund up for my son, Stephen Tyler Havins.
He's a healthy 40 year old with a wife, Catie and a daughter Avery. He was awaken early morning on January 7th with no feeling or movement in his right arm. Thinking he had just slept on it wrong but, unfortunately the feeling never returned. After 45 days of physical therapy he was beginning to experience some positive progress. Then the morning of March 2nd, he awoke with the exact same symptoms in his left arm previously experienced with his right arm.
Tyer went to see his primary care doctor and was admitted to Northwest Texas Hospital for a battery tests. After serval MRI's, CT scans, nerve conduction tests and 8 days in the hospital, the doctors were unable to come up with an answer as to what was causing the paralysis. They did find his nerves were not damaged to the point of repair. Basically his diagnosis is Bi-Radial Nerve Palsy, also known as Wrist Drop Syndrome.
As of now, he is back in the care of his medical team at Texas Tech Physicians. The MRI showed several injuries and damage in his spine of which they are in the prossess of further testing and evaluations.
Currently his medical path/restrictions from the doctor is physical therapy, very limited use of hand and no driving. The typical healing time and recovery rate is 70% recovery over 6 months. We are still searching for the cause of this issue to prevent further damage to the nerves and to make sure there is no possibility for further paralysis in his limbs.
Stephen Tyler is the sole provider for his family. Catie is disabled with congestive heart failure and is going on the transplant list barring a breakthrough in her medication, he also have a very active 4-year-old daughter that relies on him. He has been out of work since the first of January and is working on receiving disability. Unfortunetly, he has gone through his emergency fund and is in dire need of financial assistance.
He hates the idea of asking for help but really has no other option.
He is currently requesting help with rent and utilitites, car/insurance payments, gas and general living funds for a family of 3.
Any help that you could offer would be a tremendous blessing.
