Support Hazel's Journey to Health

Hey everyone I am Dionna. I am 27 a full time Truck Driver and a full time Nursing student who is also 1200 miles from most friends and all family surviving off one income. I am raising money to help get her continuous care that she needs and hopefully one day be able to see a specialist who will be able to find the root cause.

Hazel has a sad story of how she came into my care. Honestly I did not choose to be her owner but I am so grateful that she got stuck with me so I could try to give her the best life possible. Hazels original owner was my ex and when we separated he was supposed to to come back and get her. He moved 1100 miles away back with family and didn’t have a vehicle. She was sick when he left but we thought it was skin issues cause she is a sensitive girly but she got sicker about 2 weeks later and completely passed out when I came home from work one night as I was taking her outside to go to the bathroom. He did fly out and see her because she was suppose to be euthanized (we were told she was too far gone and the meds wouldn’t help) the day she was suppose to be put to rest the color in her gums came back and I told them I wanted to wait a week and retest her blood work. He flew back to Indiana mad that it was for no reason and when her blood work came back with a lot of improvement he told me he didn’t want her anymore and she was now my problem. (After learning how she was treated she was much better off). Hazel was diagnosed with ITP. ITP is an autoimmune disease that attacks red blood cells and platelets. This effects the amount of oxygen and coagulation in her blood meaning she doesn’t get nearly enough oxygen to her brain and organs and if she hurts herself it takes along time for her to heal it also means she is extremely immunocompromised. This is a disease she will have to be on medicine and have many vet appointments for the rest of her life. The only solution is that she sees a specialist but that (I’ve been told) starts at $18XXX. That’s not going to happen so we are stuck with medicine and vet visits and monthly testing. But that’s worth it for her to finally have a safe place to call home.

My goal is currently 1,000 to help make sure she receives the best care she needs(testing, meds, prescription food ect). Her newest medicine she is suppose to receive has an $200ish price point. Anything truly helps tremendously at this point. Thank you for reading this far ❤️

The way i plan on using this money is essentially to cover her medicine and vet bills. primarily for her medicine.
