Books for Hawora School

Hawora Arara Primary School is located in Doyogena, Kembata, Ethiopia. It is the only public school in the village, and teaches 1500 students from grades 1-8. Class sizes of over 70 students are the norm, and students can only attend half a day because of overcrowding.

The school makes do with very limited resources. When we visited in October 2014, we were made aware of the real need for up to date reference material and textbooks for the students. The books they have are very limited and are now outdated under the new curriculum.

We would like to provide the school with new reference books for all of the students to use. Our goal of $4600 will buy over 1000 books, covering English, Math, Biology, Physics, Social Studies, and more.  We will also supply four bookshelves to store the new texts on.

This is a personal project, and not being delivered through any registered charity. We visited the school ourselves, we saw the need, and we have trusted individuals locally who will complete the purchasing and delivery. We will be able to provide donors with pictures of the project once it is complete, and we have friends travelling to the area in March 2015 who will be able to to visit the school again and see what a difference your support has made.

Thank you for helping the kids of Hawora Arara!
