The Harvard Experience

Donation protected
We all have dreams. Mine is to someday radically innovate the world; to inspire, to develop, to transform. There are certain actions, preparations that can be taken to bring you closer to achievement. But financial state can often be a roadblock, especially in this day and age. However, before I dive in, allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Jennifer Fung and I'm a 13 year old Chinese-American girl. I'm president of my school's speech and debate team, a member of our competitive engineering team, and a straight A's student throughout middle school. Last summer, I was fortunate enough to have the privilege of spending a week on campus at Stanford University as part of a program aiming for more women to work in the science and math fields, which was an absolutely enchanting experience. The campaign picture is actually from my first day there.

Although undeniably, these achievements can be accredited to the support and encouragement of my parents- as deaf people not born in America, they never got the opportunities that us as hearing people have come to take for granted. For example, my mother struggled in school because all her teachers would speak, orally delivering lessons despite her entire world being flooded with silence. And for this reason, she puts an immense emphasis on my own education. Which leads me to my current situation.

I was recently offered a position inweek-long program called  Ambassador Leadership Summit ‌ at Harvard University, which is this summer from June 17-23. You can only imagine how thrilled my parents and I were once we read the letter we received. What person wouldn't want to spend a week at one of the world's most prestigious schools? It's an amazing honor and I'd love to be able to go- but there's one problem: the grand total comes out to about $4,000.  It covers everything from the program itself to food, housing, and airfare.

If you could donate anything at all to this campaign and send me on my way to a trip that's sure to dramatically impact me, I'd be incredibly grateful. If you can't donate yourself, please share this page with others- getting the word out would be fantastic.

Thank you so much for taking the valuable time out of your busy day to listen to my story, and if you decided to contribute, thank you once more, for changing my life. Know that your help is profoundly appreciated and that my gratitude is beyond what words could convey.
