My name is Jennifer. I’m a wife and mom of three, and I’m reaching out during a very difficult season for our family.
Over the past year, our family has been facing several serious medical challenges that have created emotional and financial strain beyond what we can manage on our own. Even with insurance, many of these costs are not fully covered.
Our son Evan has recently been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), POTS, Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, and doctors are also evaluating him for Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. Evan has already been hospitalized six times in 2025, and many of his doctors and specialized tests are located in Gainesville, about an hour and a half from our home.
At just 17 years old, Evan had to undergo two lung surgeries. Because of his health conditions, he is limited in how much he can work, which has greatly impacted his ability to support himself.
At the same time, I am also facing my own serious health battle. In 2024, I was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. I have undergone multiple tests and see a specialist in Gainesville regularly for ongoing treatment. Doctors have told me that I will likely need a liver transplant within the next 1–2 years. Thankfully I’m not at that stage yet, and my current MELD score is 10 out of 40, but my condition requires careful monitoring and continued care. In January 2026 I was diagnosed with hepatopulmonary syndrome that can only be fixed by transplant.
This past year has also brought financial setbacks. My husband lost his job in March of 2025, though thankfully he has recently returned to work. During this time, I also had to step away from my online business for several months in order to care for Evan through his hospital stays, medical treatments, and frequent appointments. Between medical bills, testing, medications, travel to Gainesville, gas, car repairs, and everyday living expenses, the financial burden has become overwhelming for our family.
We are humbly asking for help to ease some of this burden while we continue focusing on our ongoing medical treatment. Any donation, no matter the size, would help with current and future medical and living expenses.
Most importantly, we ask for your prayers. Our family is trusting God for strength, healing, and guidance through this journey.
Your kindness, prayers, and support truly mean the world to us. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story.
With gratitude, Jennifer and family ❤️
