Harley Forever- Help Continue Her Mission

Beloved Harley is a Great Dane Medical Service Dog. No words can truly describe Harley other than, "to know her, was to love her". Harley was by her moms side for 9 years of faithful service. Their bond was like no other. Harley was completely voice command trained. They flowed together like water. To see her take care of her mom was a true awe inspiring moment. Her love, her care, her dedication was unwavering.

Harley's mom was a victim of military domestic violence which resulted in the tragic loss of her unborn child. She has a Traumatic Brain Injury among other serious conditions. Harley was well known at 29 Palms, Balboa Naval Hospital and Camp Pendleton. She was a brave girl who sometimes got a little too protective of her mom and they had to lure her with beef jerky so they could get an IV in.

Harley loved taking herself on walks to smell the neighbors flowers. Her auntie would yell, "Hey Ferdinand time to come in"...and 5 minutes later she would start thinking about it. "Car ride", "Walk", "Cookie" were her trigger words-ears perked and head titled. She couldn't ever pass up an In n Out Flying Dutchman-no salt or a Puppachino from Starbucks and YES she knew the difference! Her toxic trait was stealing beef jerky from any location-even a back pocket on a random person. Her favorite nap spot was at the Pool at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa under a wet towel waiting for pool service to bring her a beef wagyu patty no salt. Only second to that was her private corner in Napa Rose. Ear scratches were her weakness. Hip rubs sent her to the floor in utter ecstasy. Mickey Mouse was her boyfriend in her mind. She had been on 3 Disney Cruises. She was the little spoon. Her mom cooked steak and roast for her regular meals and she had the best vitamins on the market. She had just taken up swimming a few months ago.

Harley got a buddy named Little Bear to start training for her mom. Harley's mom wanted Harley to enjoy some couch time after so many years of hard service. Harley was working with Little Bear to show her the ropes. The intention was to have Harley help guide Little Bear in some of her training.

On Monday, 22 July, 2024 at 1900 hours Harley suddenly collapsed in her front yard and took her last breaths in her moms arms. She had just turned 12 the previous week. She is being given the hail and farewell she deserves.

We know things are tight for everyone, but Harley's mom always says, "if everyone gives a little, no one has to give a lot". Even if you can't give, thank you for taking the time to read about her. Please post your favorite memory or story of her so that her mom can read them all when she is ready. We humbly ask you to pass this along and post on every social media account you have.

Your generous donations will help pay for Harley's end of life costs, her shadow box, her memorial service and the continued training of her successor, Little Bear. Any excess will go into a trust account for Little Bear's continued care and upkeep.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Till Valhalla sweet Harley Bear. We know that the Rainbow Bridge will be especially bright the day you are reunited with your mommy.
