Taking a stand against police brutality

Hello, GoFundMe community,
In these ever-changing times, the need for consistent understanding and advocacy of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement is at a critical juncture. The voices of the marginalized should not be allowed to fade into the background. As the pandemic rages and society grapples with continued inequalities that at times appear insurmountable, our people face tough decisions as we progress into the upcoming year.
Marginalized voices were continuing to get squeezed by authorities and pressured to keep quiet about serious issues that threaten our daily lives. The death of a beloved community member is treated as inconsequential. Those in power expect us to be kept at a bended knee and to accept it. Police, the justice system, and other authorities want to suppress the hard-fought civil rights that our previous generation sacrificed so much to provide for us.
Those who want and need to be heard about these social injustices cannot be trampled upon by the powers that be.
For the past two years, I have been vocally advocating for Tamla Horsford, a black woman whose death needs further and more competent investigation. However, due to the investigation's opaque nature, the media attention brought to the case, and other issues rooted in discrimination has led law enforcement to physically and mentally harass me, causing me to temporarily question how I could advocate on behalf of social justice for someone else when I could not do it myself.
I felt defeated from being harassed, falsely arrested, multiple intimidation tactics across different governmental departments, and getting my personal belongings confiscated and destroyed. It felt like no matter how much effort I put into trying to find justice for the people that needed it, it was just all a waste. After a long duration of swimming in the pool of depression, I realized that something needed to be done to show that my actions and others have experienced being voiced out as something that was not ok.
My electronics, including my computers and hard drives, were taken and later returned damaged and broken with vital data deleted, including information about the case, connections, and my work as a photographer.
Not only did I suffer significant monetary damage by having my property confiscated and purposely damaged, I have also suffered from the physical and mental anguish of my violent arrest and continued harassment.
Their actions weren't apart of a criminal investigation, but rather a public lynching and witch hunt. All of the time, energy, and resources I spent building my reputation as a photographer and all of the money spent on gear felt like a waste, and I suddenly became defeated.
The actions taken against me by the local law enforcement shows the potential threats honest hard working citizens potentially face.
I launched this GoFundMe campaign to help go towards replacing all of my damaged property.
