It's been quite the start to the year here at the Humane Society for Greater Nashua. Within the span of a couple of weeks we were introduced to three dogs who all require specialized surgeries.

We need your help! These surgeries represent a large amount of money for us to spend in such a short period of time, but we know these pups are worth every penny. Please read more about them below, and know that any amount you can give will help go towards their care! Anything raised above our goal will be put to our Abby Fund, which is a donor designated fund that we use for shelter pets  facing serious and life threatening conditions.

Kit Kat
This stray cocker spaniel came in to us a mess- matted, dirty, and clearly living a life of neglect from the people who were supposed to care for him. 

Matted fur is painful enough to make even the sweetest dog grumpy, and Kit Kat had even more ailments- toenails so long that they curled into his feet and ears that had obviously been so chronically infected that the canals are damaged beyond repair. We’ve cleaned up and cared for Kit Kat easing his discomfort, and have come to the decision that he needs a highly specialized and expensive surgery to deal with his damaged ear canals. 

Diamond
This Shih tzu may be little, but she is full of spunk and has a zest for life, despite living with the uncomfortable condition known as Cherry Eye. Not only is this blocked tear gland causing pain, it is also the source of dry eye which requires Diamond to get drops four times a day. She also has mammary masses that will be removed while she is in surgery, which if left, could become cancerous and spread. We feel confident that surgery to correct these issues will make her quality of life markedly better, and know that at only 6 1/2 years old she still has lots and lots of living left to do! 

Diamond loves to play with squeaky toys and her favorite people, and we promise to keep you updated as she recovers and is adopted into her new home!

Lily
This silly girl is a Pug cross and so sweet. She was abandoned in Nashua and came into us with an injured knee. Upon further examination, our Veterinarian has determined that she will need reconstructive surgery on all of the major tendons and ligaments in her knee. This is an injury that Lily has been living with for a long time. She's adapted well, but we know that her knee is likely causing her a significant amount of pain, which the surgery will alleviate. We look forward to her feeling better so she can play tug and run and chase her toys without pain!
