Hi! My name is Ben Lagman, and with the help of a handful of our AMAZING neighbors in Hell’s Kitchen, we were able to rescue a cat that was abandoned for 5+ weeks in deplorable conditions, left by the team that runs Citra Gourmet Deli on 648 10th Ave in Manhattan. On Monday, June 17th 2024, I along with a few other neighbors and with the help especially of Tiff Winton, were able to bring Leila (the cat) to a vet with initial checkups. While we are awaiting results of her bloodwork, if anyone would be willing to donate a small amount of funds to help cover any further medical costs and potential treatment needed to ensure Leila has a good and clean bill of health, I’d really appreciate it!
I am currently housing her (with the intent to fully adopt), but would genuinely love if anyone in the community could help raise funds for this poor cat. I’ll cover majority of the initial expenses such as a bed, feeder, and the necessities, but I’m still awaiting results of her bloodwork along with additional tests and treatment should she require further medical care. Upon pickup, she had ear mites, was dehydrated, and was instructed to go back to the Vet for applicable follow-ups to ensure her health gets back on track while we wait for further results of her tests. Any additional or excess funds be donated to a local animal shelter, and receipts for medical expenses will be uploaded for further verification as time passes.

UPDATES FOR TRANSPARENCY
- 6/17/2024: Initial checkup, cleaning, nail trim, bloodwork, mouth examination, ear mites check, etc., were all conducted, first bill came to approximately $870 Click for Receipt
- 6/18/2024: Bloodwork Results are overall fine, however she unfortunately is suffering from Thyroid Issues, Ear Mites, dehydration, and a few additional ailments. Free T4 Examination Fee to check was charged, bill came to approximately $253. Click for Receipt
- Additional Dental/Mouth examination was also quoted to be between $1,194 > $3,552 in order to remove remainder of her teeth that are in bad shape and conduct in-depth examination of gums, mouth, etc.. due to lack of care. Was told to plan on having this done after her 1-week follow up on 6/24/2024. Click for Receipt
- 6/19/2024: Awaiting results of stool sample to check for worms and other stomach issues, pending results and potential additional treatment. UPDATE: Cleared of worms and GI issues.
- 6/24/2024: Checkup went well, however ear infection and ear mites are still present, additional course of medications prescribed. X-Rays, Urinalysis, Vaccinations, Radiograph, and more services were provided. Bloodwork came back as normal, however, further required checkup is needed and dental work must be done in the next 3-4 weeks. Click for Receipt (UPDATE: Checkup with screening July 16th)
Next Required Follow Up: July 8/9th to check status of infection and to see if infections have cleared. To schedule full dental work.
