"The operators of the shelter say they are doing the best they can with what they have.
"I feel we do an awful lot with what we have to work with,” said Angie Cook, shelter director. “Yeah it would be nice to have a nice, newer, bigger place, but we don't have the means right now. But I think we do an excellent job for what we work with and what we're dealt."
"More than 1,100 animals that were lost or abandoned came through the door of HHP.
Cook said 15 volunteers help in the daily operations, five of those are paid volunteers.
She said operations cost roughly $14,000 a month.
Help for Homeless Pets does not receive funding from the city or county, forcing it to rely on donations and money generated from animals being adopted. The fee ranges depending on the animal.
Cook said the shelter battles sickness of animals on a regular basis, but said HHP has not seen major illnesses or diseases in years.
Tina Furman, a paid volunteer, began helping last year and said the volunteers keep the space in livable conditions. " ~~Feb11, 2015 Q2
Maybe instead of pointing fingers, we help them build a nicer one. Billings, Montana. Beautiful place for these kind people.
